How much does a marble countertop cost in Spain?

Renovating a kitchen in Spain? The price of a marble countertop depends mainly on the stone you choose, but several other factors can move the final quote more than you might expect. Here are realistic ranges and what to ask so you can compare quotes fairly.

Typical ranges in Spain

According to Spanish home-renovation quote platforms consulted in September 2026 (habitissimo and cronoshare), an installed marble countertop usually costs roughly €200 to €500 per square metre. Spanish marbles sit at the lower end; the most prized Italian marbles and exotic stones can exceed that range.

The same sources give two whole-kitchen examples:

These are indicative market figures, not a quote. The real price depends on the specific slab and your kitchen. For a firm price, ask us for a quote with your measurements.

What changes the price

1. The stone

This is the biggest factor. An Italian white marble such as Statuario or Calacatta costs considerably more than a Spanish marble. Exotic quartzites and semi-precious stones are at the top of the scale.

2. Thickness

The usual thicknesses are 2 or 3 cm. 3 cm looks more substantial and is sturdier but uses more material. To get a thick-looking edge without paying for a thick slab, a mitred front can be added to simulate extra thickness.

3. Slab yield

Slabs have a limited size (around 3 × 2 m, depending on the stone). If your countertop needs more length, there will be joints, and matching the veining between pieces (bookmatching) uses material less efficiently. Sometimes it pays to think in slabs rather than square metres.

4. Edges, cut-outs and finishes

5. Templating, transport and installation

A good quote includes templating in your kitchen, transport and fitting. If one of the quotes you are comparing leaves these out, the price difference can be misleading.

How to compare quotes

  1. Ask them to name the exact stone and, if possible, to show you the slab.
  2. Check the thickness, edges and cut-outs included.
  3. Ask whether it includes templating, transport, installation and sealing.
  4. Ask where any joints will be.

If marble is over budget

There are alternatives with a similar feel: some light quartzites, or using marble only on an island and a more affordable material elsewhere. See our materials comparison.
